YOUR HAT STINKS

So your hat stinks and you must wash it. Well, you want to wash it but you don't want to ruin it -so what do you do? There are plenty of methods to take care of the stink, I recommend starting with the obvious. Read the tag. It's a little like cheating to see how to wash it, but it may save you the agony of destroying your favorite cap.

First, it's important to use a washing machine. There are fancy devices and recommendations to throw it in the dishwasher, resist the tempetation. It's material - do you throw towels and rags in the dishwasher? Well, I suppose if you do than it's not wierd to wash the hat in the dishwasher. Dishwashers use very hot water, you're going to want a cooler wash temperature. For purposes of this article, I'd say stick to the washing machine.

Collect a few items of similar color and put in the washing machine. It's better for the hat if you have a few other items in the wash. Make sure to pre-treat the smelly areas, like the liner, and any other areas that are stained. Then use warm never hot water. And unless you want a bleached hat, avoid bleach!

When you're done, air dry the hat. If you throw in the dryer you're just going to ruin the fit. You spent a good deal of time getting it perfect, why would you want to destroy all that time? They do make plastic molds for drying, spend a few dollars and get one. They really help keep the shape of the hat!
